Hetherington, a photographer who has covered many conflicts, and Junger spent one year following the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers who established a remote outpost in Afghanistan’s dreaded Korengal Valley that they named Restrepo in honor of one of their fallen comrades. The documentary chronicles the soldiers’ efforts to crush Taliban resistance and make it through their deployment.
