"Deadstream"
Would you stake your financial future and what remains of your sullied reputation on spending a night alone in a haunted house? If you are disgraced Internet personality Shawn Ruddy of Joseph and Vanessa Winter’s horror comedy Deadstream, what choice do you have? Desperate to win back the audience that abandoned him after a well-documented scandal, the snarky and divisive content creator breaks into the haunted Pratt House to livestream any paranormal activity he experiences over the course of one night. Shawn’s sponsors require him to remain in the so-called "Death Manor" no matter what happens or he will forfeit every dollar he stands to make for the live-streamed event. Which proves to be highly problematic when Shawn comes face to face with the ghost of Mildred Pratt, the first of many of the house’s occupants to die under mysterious circumstances. Written and directed by married couple Joseph and Vanessa Winter, Deadstream stars Joseph Winter as Shawn Ruddy and Melanie Stone as Chrissy, Shawn’s greatest fan and an unexpected contributor to the live stream. Deadstream, which premiered locally as a Midnighter during the 2022 SXSW Film & TV Festival, is now available on Blu-Ray Steelbook and can also be streamed on Shudder. Deadstream represents the first feature co-directed by the Utah-based Joseph and Vanessa Winter. Vanessa Winter previously directed the 2018 TV movie Devil's Got My Back as well as episodes of the TV series Loving Lyfe and Studio C. Joseph and Vanessa Winter also wrote and directed the V/H/S/99 segment To Hell and Back, which starred Joseph Winter and Melanie Stone.
